| What an amazing example of how a restoration should be done. This wonderful townhouse in the heart of the sleepy mountain village of Salares has been renovated with care and consideration and a huge sense of style. Original and reclaimed materials have been used almost exclusively, with flair and imagination. All windows are wooden framed with shutters and all ceilings are beamed, some with cane. Most of the floors have rustic tiles but there are areas of natural slate as well. The attention to detail is endless with delightful alcoves and features at every turn, and every room is a joy. This is a corner property and so there is a lot of light and good movement of air in the summer. At the back it faces a beautiful green gorge where a river flows and the sound of running water mingles with the chorus of birdsong. It is impossible to do this property justice with a short description, but just look at the photos and please ask us to send you additional pictures. From the front door you enter a cosy living room with wood burning stove and access to the well fitted kitchen with modern appliances. There are two floors below entrance level; the middle floor has a large bathroom and big bedroom, and a very pretty shaded terrace looking out to the gorge. The lower floor has the second bedroom with ensuite shower room and an exit to the street at the back of the property. One level up from the living room takes you to the third bedroom with French balcony and exit to a small terrace with steps to the main roof terrace where the views are fabulous, the ancient Moorish church tower seems just an arms-length away and the mountains of the natural park in one direction and the valleys towards the coast in the other leave you not knowing which way to turn. As you can tell, we like this house a lot and consider it represents very good value for money, the paperwork is all in order and it is should be easy to organise a mortgage. |
