The Villages

The region to the East of Malaga in southern Spain is known as 'La Axarquia', (the land to the East). The Sierra Almijara mountains provide a stunning backdrop to sandy beaches and the nearby blue Mediterranean . The climate of one of our village areas, Torrox , is officially the best in Europe , being warm and sunny all year round, it is not just a summer resort and indeed in winter you can swim in the sea in the morning and ski in the mountains the same afternoon.

On the southerly slopes of these mountains nestling between protected nature parks, are small, whitewashed Andalucian villages unchanged for centuries except for the discreet arrival of modern services. The main Inland villages in this part of Axarquia area: Archez, Canillas de Aceituno, Canillas de Albaida, Cómpeta, Sayalonga, Sedella and Torrox.
