Torrox with its population of approximately 8000 is situated only 3 kilometres from the coast, the nearest point of which is called Torrox Costa . Meandering up the hillside, Torrox is the epitome of what you expect of a Spanish town. Dating back to the eleventh century, it is a haven of whitewashed walls and balconies bursting with flowers, along with narrow, cobbled and sometimes steep streets.
The heart and centre of local activity is Plaza de la Constitution, where everyone does their daily shopping in the mornings. The market is brimming with fresh fish, vegetables and bread, still warm from the local bakers. At night the plaza is the focus of the social life of the town with restaurants and dining al fresco, bars where you can relax with friends and enjoy the local wines, accompanied by Tapas, while you watch the colourful local nightlife unfold around you.
Torrox Costa, with a stretch of 9 kilometres of outstanding beaches, offers all the amenities for which the entire Costa del Sol has become one of the most sought after vacation spots in Europe . Torrox, with a view of the ocean on one side and the breathtaking Almijara mountains, snow capped in winter, on the other, has justifiably been called the town with the best climate in Europe.
